Treadwell & Rollo was recently named, with the City of Stockton Redevelopment Department, as the EPA Region 9, 2008 Phoenix Award winner for the Stockton Events Center. Treadwell & Rollo’s President and CEO, Phil Tringale, and Senior Project Manager, David Dixon, were present at the Brownfields 2009 Conference in New Orleans to receive the award.
Using innovative site assessment and remediation management techniques, Treadwell & Rollo demonstrated how to revitalize a 25-acre property that was previously a mix of former shipbuilding, machine shops, automotive repair and steel fabrication yards. We utilized our ability to quickly understand the problems the site presented, successfully engage the state and county regulators in remediation plan approval and permitting, and manage the remediation during site redevelopment activities to facilitate the final project.
The result of the project team’s dedication to the community is a beautiful 3,000-seat baseball stadium, 12,000-seat indoor athletic and events arena, hotel, and 6-level parking garage with storefront retail. A clear vision and team strategy enhanced the local economy, while producing over 500 new jobs for surrounding residents.
Designed and landscaped to be environmentally-sustainable and energy-efficient, the Stockton Events Center is now a newly created prime waterfront property. The new transit-oriented development is close to downtown, and residential communities, and is a place that the community as a whole can benefit from.
